Dani Nel·lo

Saxophonist, Composer, Music Producer and Creator of Stage Events

Dani is an experienced musician with a career of more than thirty years behind him. After 12 years in Spanish rockabilly legends Los Rebeldes (1985 – 97) Dani moved on to lead Nel·lo y La Banda del Zoco, Tandoori LeNoir and, most recently, Los Mambo Jambo, with whom he has released six albums and counting. He has also released the same number of solo albums. Nel·lo has worked live and in the studio with a host of legendary musicians including Nick Curran, Nikki Hill, Los Lobos, Jackson Browne, Mike Sanchez, Barrence Whitfield, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, Bunbury, Loquillo, Ariel Rot, Kiko Veneno, Santiago Auserón, John Parrish, Jack Scott, Rafael and Raimundo Amador.
He has written fourteen theatrical productions alongside Carme Portaceli including “Prometeo Encadenat” and “L’Auca del Senyor Esteve”, which both premiered at the National Theatre of Catalonia and has collaborated with the theatre directors Herman Bonnin and Lurdes Barba. In films, Dani produced the soundtracks for two works by Cesc Gay, the movie “Una Pistola en Cada Mano” and the series “Félix” and wrote for the soundtrack of “The Nun” by Luis de La Madrid. Dani’s music has also been heard in the Netflix series “Valeria” and various advertisements for commercial products including Catalana Occidente, Lays, Mango and Filipinos. He has composed theme music for Basketmanía, Jazz a l’Estudi, Cava de Blues, Swing a l’Estudi and Fusió a l’Estudi (for the Catalan Media Corporation – CCMA). As well as all this, Dani Nel·lo is in his sixth season as director and presenter of the programme “Jazz Watusi” on iCat (Cat Radio).
