Carlos Lage

Carlos Lage is a self-taught artist from a long line of Cuban singer-songwriters who formed the basis for his artistic journey. In 1999 the Catalan publisher Columna Música released Carlos’ first record, “Souvenires de Futuro”, which had a definite folk feel to it. Over the next few years he recorded his second album, “El Rayo”, with the La Nova Tradicional project, which was set up in Barcelona in 2009 to fuse traditional Cuban music with contemporary sounds. He then went on to start his own dance music project “Habana con Kola”, through which he recorded his third album “Vente negra” – a major success in the world of salsa, earning the band the label of “Alternative Salsa”.

As well as that, he performed and played for two years with the Catalan contemporary dance company “Gelabert Azzopardi”, as part of one of their musical fusion shows.

Carlos has recently been invited to take part in one of legendary Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez’s concerts in his country’s capital.
