He began playing guitar with Flamenco maestro Manuel Carvajal Ramos when he was just 14 years old, later taking Flamenco classes with Rafael Cañizares. Following this period of apprenticeship, he toured Spain with Britpop band Stay, making a record with Owen Morris, legendary producer of bands including Oasis, the Verve and Ash.
Over the course of his career, José has also played with bands such as the Pretty Things, Ocean Colour Scene and alongside Liam Gallagher in Beady Eye. Currently, his career is solely focused on flamenco, the music which he inherited from his family and which touches his heart most deeply.
