Karl Tomas Runqvist aka Tirtha

Tirtha was the founder, singer and guitarist of the band Undrop, with whom he had a number of gold and platinum records, and starred in the successful Pepsi advertising campaign “Generation Next”.

With the sitar as the main focus, he took his other band, Dhira, halfway around the world playing his fusion of hip-hop and Indian music, and spent long periods in India, immersing himself in the country’s traditional music.

Gypsy swing has also been a major influence in Tirtha’s life, and numerous recording and performance projects in this style have featured his outstanding guitar technique. He has also played guitar with the band Amparanoia and is currently a member of the well-known Spanish band Macaco.
